I began by visiting my local record store to do some visual research and take reference photos. Using these references I then modeled individual assets such as shelves, crates, and boxes.

After blocking out set dressing in Maya, I moved the assets into Unreal Engine and began finalizing set dressing on a shot-by-shot basis. Our record store has been abandoned for 70 years, so I looked primarily at libraries from Pripyat for deterioration and clutter. It was important that the space feel lived in by our main character Tempo, so I included boxes that are pulled off shelves at his height and rummaged through.
Responsible for all modeling and texturing, aside from cassette tape model & textures done by Angel Frazier, posters, wall/floor tx, and foliage done by Luna McKee.

Moving into look development on the assets, I wanted to nail down the exact deterioration of the record store. As the record store is still somewhat protected from outside elements, the assets needed to feel deteriorated but not destroyed. I focused on dust, peeling, edgewear, and grime buildup based on the asset's location within the store.
